Sunday over already??

Well, that was a fun day! Started off by going for a 5k waddle this morning… For some reason I chose to do a workout rather than a free run, and it’s got me stuffed why, because I always find I’m disgruntled for some reason or another, and today it was TOO SLOW! I need to tweak my zones. Sounds self indulgent I know, but there you have it; my blue is too big and too slow, and my green not big enough. Bleh. Anyhoo, I kept going at the end of the 18 minutes and went for distance – I accidentally included that 100m I missed on yesterdays distance too!

While it was by no means spectacular, at least it was 5K under 30 mins. I want to do it in 28, but I’m still 4-500m off usually at that time. I’ll crack it by the end of the year – I hope!!

Yay! I found the running club!

After last weeks fiasco, it was touch and go as to if I got there in time… I left work late, and cut it very fine – arriving maybe 2 mins before take off?

Memo to me – do not leave work late on Wed afternoons, particularly when you only THINK you know where you’re going!

And although I was only going to do a little run, I decided on the spur of the moment to do the 5 clicker. I’m glad I did, although I think I’ll be feeling it tomrrow. Time sucked – 33:34 including the phone call I got at the begining and the screwed up tunes … excuses excuses! I know the coach says 4.93… but I’m counting it as 5. Ave speed was apparently 8.81 kph, which is faster than my ‘groove thing’ of 8.5, so I’m happy with that. Mind you, I’d be  interested to see how long I could keep that up – I didn’t actually feel like I hit my groove, so it’s kind of comforting to know I wasn’t there. The interesting thing about the coach is the graph. Todays run was nothing like the shorter two, which I find interesting… it’ll be more interesting when there’s a few more to use as a comparison.

Did I mention there was a slight hill in the equation today? Did I mention the up side was on the way home?

Bastards.

Funny thing is, the competition is myself. I run for me. Me, me, me. I don’t care how many people overtake me, or how fast they do it in. At this time, it’s me:doing it. That’s the important part. One day I’ll do it to get faster – maybe – or one day I’ll be in a competition with others. Maybe. I don’t care. What’s important is I got out there, and I did it. By myself. For myself.

Today, it’s Wednesday.

I did my run in a bit over 33 mins (according to the little taggy thing around my ankle), and I did walk more than I should’ve. However, it’s been a long time since I’ve run a timed 5k, and would you believe some bastard even put hills in there? Sure they weren’t real big, but they were a bit nasty.  I ran up them too – and you have to run down hills, cos it’s money for shit!

So, to recap: I ran it. It wasn’t fast, and it wasn’t flash, but I ran it.The first is the hardest – next week is a cross country, and there is the word ‘Beach’ in the title. I’m not so keen on that bit.

Memo to me: Drink more water. Load up before the race. Always have a full bottle in the car.

Two objectives down for this week… one more to go. That’s the swim. And I still have a few days left, so I’ll not stress.

Tomorrow is squash in the afternoon. Friday I don’t have a damn clue – that may in fact be my opportunistic swimming day? Saturday is my #run4ChCh and I am hoping to be lucky enough to have two others with me. I am aiming for 10k in 1hr… we’ll see how we go… and then I will donate $5 for each kilometre to the Red Cross. I know it’s not much, but every little bit helps… doesn’t it??After that, it’s brunch. I’m looking forward to it.

Next big ticket on the menu is a 10k cross country on 16 April. Meh, it’s a Saturday – I’m going to give it a shot. Then I’m going to get drunk. hehe

Today is also day 8 of doing some sort of physical activity every day. And if I can do the sprints on the weekend, it will be the third weekend in a row. I’m kinda sorted feeling a little inspired, just cos I can be.
