15.7 plus 5.5… and we have a winner, ladies and gentlemen!

total to date: 21.2K

(we’ll ignore the fact it’s taken me a week and a half to run a half marathon!)

Week 7 objectives

Alrighty. How’d I do with the Week 6 objectives?

1. Repeat swimming – 100m in two strokes. Nope.
2. #RunForJapan – $5 per kilometre. Yes, but ongoing. 12.2K so far
3. Get through the week! Hmmm. That’s debateable.

Week 7 Objectives?

  1. Get rid of this shitty ear.
  2. Drink more water.
  3. Plan meals like I’m supposed to.
  4. Do 5K cross country on Wednesday.
  5. Attempt to get to 20K by next sunday for the RunForJapan fundraiser.

Hell. I’ll be happy just to be running again. Tomorrow, I’m going to go for a walk even, I don’t care if it’s just to the end of the road… today was hell! And if I don’t come good, then next week will be week 7.1. I’ve done it before, I’ll do it again.

Yay! I found the running club!

After last weeks fiasco, it was touch and go as to if I got there in time… I left work late, and cut it very fine – arriving maybe 2 mins before take off?

Memo to me – do not leave work late on Wed afternoons, particularly when you only THINK you know where you’re going!

And although I was only going to do a little run, I decided on the spur of the moment to do the 5 clicker. I’m glad I did, although I think I’ll be feeling it tomrrow. Time sucked – 33:34 including the phone call I got at the begining and the screwed up tunes … excuses excuses! I know the coach says 4.93… but I’m counting it as 5. Ave speed was apparently 8.81 kph, which is faster than my ‘groove thing’ of 8.5, so I’m happy with that. Mind you, I’d be  interested to see how long I could keep that up – I didn’t actually feel like I hit my groove, so it’s kind of comforting to know I wasn’t there. The interesting thing about the coach is the graph. Todays run was nothing like the shorter two, which I find interesting… it’ll be more interesting when there’s a few more to use as a comparison.

Did I mention there was a slight hill in the equation today? Did I mention the up side was on the way home?

Total to date RunForJapan: 12.22K (plus the ripped off 7m!)

Funny thing is, the competition is myself. I run for me. Me, me, me. I don’t care how many people overtake me, or how fast they do it in. At this time, it’s me:doing it. That’s the important part. One day I’ll do it to get faster – maybe – or one day I’ll be in a competition with others. Maybe. I don’t care. What’s important is I got out there, and I did it. By myself. For myself.

Tuesday, week 6

I started work early and missed PT – as planned. I was lucky enough to have someone fill in at lunch so I could go to boxing circuits – bless his little cotton socks, and hope he’s in a good mood tomorrow (think I might have to add the words ‘buy’ and ‘beer’ into the equation tho!)…

I also went for a waddle in the afternoon. I did have a pic for you, but the phone has decided it’s above sending emails, once again. *sigh*…

Anyhoo… I did 3.7K, so my running total (ha! see that? I’m so cool!) is 7.2 or 7.3. I’m happy with it so far, and am going to try hard to do the 5k tomorrow, but we’ll see how it goes. Lunch is stretching, so that’ll be a killer. Isn’t it funny how many people think it’s sissy stuff? I’m going to die, aren’t I?

I did nothing in the morning – work got in the way, nothing at lunch – my foul mood got in the way, and nothing after work – cos I got fish and chips for dinner.

And while they were good, they weren’t as great as last time. Think I’ll leave it for a few months till I try again. Unfortunately on the exercise front things aren’t looking much better… I will try and have someone fill in for me at lunch, but don’t fancy my chances. If that’s the case, I’m doing something after work. Squash and a treadmill perhaps? I still need to get my k’s in for Japan!

I got up!

And I ran. I found my inspiration – #RunForJapan !

I’m going to run for 2 weeks and donate $5 per kilometre… and if I don’t think I’ve done enough, then I’ll make it a month.

So far, 3.6k. And it was humid and gross and felt like I ran another 10 on top of it, so while it wasn’t much, it was something. And I did it, and I’m glad I did. Now I have to mow the lawn while it’s not raining – who knows how long that will last!!
